The results are based on a Finnish study that examined over 10,000 individuals from infancy to age 50. The main conclusion of the study was that ischemic heart disease was also linked to attempts to reduce weight after puberty. Stroke risk might not completely disappear.
An ischemic stroke is a kind of stroke in which a blood clot obstructs the blood supply to the brain, according to the US Heart Association. With approximately 87% of all stroke cases falling within this category, it is the most prevalent kind of stroke.
The researchers recommended that medical professionals prioritize treating overweight and obesity in young people and encourage a healthy diet and regular exercise starting at a young age.
