Beijing: Garlic eating may help lower blood sugar and cholesterol, according to a recent study.
A group of Chinese researchers examined a number of earlier investigations regarding the effects of garlic on the metabolism of fat and blood sugar.
Researchers examined the effects of garlic on triglycerides, blood sugar, haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and cholesterol using data from 29 trials.
Keeping an eye on blood levels is one method of monitoring these disorders. Blood tests performed as part of a standard checkup typically measure a patient's triglycerides, HbA1c, fasting blood glucose (measured after 8 to 12 hours), and cholesterol.
The findings of these tests assist the doctors determine whether the patient is at risk of developing certain illnesses, such as high cholesterol or diabetes.
